The best mattress to buy on Amazon will ideally deliver comfort, support, pain and pressure relief. It will also have a meaningful lifespan, say 8-10 years, and should be backed up with a decent warranty and return policy.
Also, you’ll notice that prices are a bit lower on Amazon, and you can even get Prime delivery in a day or two, which won’t happen with typical bed in a box web sites.
The reason for this is simple and I’ve discussed it before. When you buy a mattress through many popular web sites, the price you pay often includes large commissions and marketing costs which are passed on to the consumer.
Often, big name brands will sell a mattress for $1,500 more which are no different than mattresses sold by reputable companies on Amazon for 1/3 of the average retail price.

I’ve found that many underpirced mattresses are not thick enough because they don’t contain a substantial amount of foam underneath to provide proper support.

It typically takes 12-24 hours for a mattress to fully reconstitute to its original factory size, but you can sleep on it within 2-3 hours.
I advise letting it take on air for 24 hours, as well as allowing it to breathe, and this gets rid of any factory odors, which are harmless.
