Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid Mattress Review According To A 25 Year Mattress Industry Expert

At 14″ tall, I experienced enough depth and immersion, with no bottoming out or sink feeling.

My Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid Mattress review and testing takes a close look under the hood at one of the web’s most popular pocket coil and foam hybrid mattresses.

Claiming to be designed in the tradition of popular resort and hotel mattresses, it’s pretty affordable, at $1099 in queen and $1299 in king size.

At 14″ tall, it rivals much pricier big name brands found in retail stores, with a lot of emphasis made on its bountiful and lofty “Euro-top” pillowtop section, crafted with a cashmere blend of cotton and spun material that resists packing down over time.

I’m going to get into the details and I’ll put my 25 years of mattress designing experience to the test as we review and evaluate, layer by layer, The Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid Mattress.

The Dreamcloud Premier Mattress follows a pretty basic design that includes cooling gel and memory foam fitted on top of a pocket coil superstructure below. The trick with any hybrid mattress recipe is to create a mattress that will deliver pain and pressure relief without sinkage being an issue, offer an embracing hug that can be experienced by anyone, regarding of body type.

I Liked The Body Conforming And Float Like Support-Yet Didn’t Feel I Had To Dig My Way Out

Outfitted with 3 foam layers and a pocket coil suspension, I liked the yielding yet buoyant feel this mattress offers.

At the interior, this mattress is built with similar components that are used in retail stores, but it built with 4.5 inches of memory foam support foam, under which is an 8.5″ tall wrapped pocket coil system.

The coil system has tighter and firmer coils at the edge, which I noticed offered a lot more edge support than many pillow top coil mattresses. This is a plus for sitting, and makes it easier to transfer in and out of bed.

If you are looking for a mattress that is more body conforming, delivers more “hug” factor without making you feel like to have to dig your way out, I’d say that The Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid is a mattress you should consider. Let me explain.

Very few mattresses offer a luxury fabric up top like the blended cashmere fabric that is used in this mattress. Because cashmere wool, especially when blended with cotton, has natural cooling properties, it’s an exceptional material to use in mattress making. Especially near the top.

I’ve used cashmere fabrics on mattress designs of my own before, and the feeling doesn’t get lost even when you add a fitted sheet on top of it. You’ll still be able to feel it’s velvety softness, and the euro-top construction is not only hypo-allergenic, but feels slightly immersive and breathable.

It’s a nice touch, and it might not be the first thing you love about The Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid.

I sleep mostly on my side, and want a softer feel at hips, shoulders, flank, even knees. It was a big plus to have the pressure relief I needed- I’m a big guy, too- at 6’2″ and 190 lbs- so I was impressed.

But, overwhelmingly the one takeaway I felt that really set this mattress apart from similar hybrids (like some of the The Sealy/Serta Black models which run around $3,000-$4,000 queen) was the sensation of total pressure relief when on my side, and how easy it was to change position.

I also noted that I didn’t wake up because I felt stuck- and therefore, enjoyed deeper REM sleep without interruption. You’ll remember your REM sleep when you wake up if you can recall vivid dreaming.

One plus I noticed with this mattress is that you won’t get a sinking, stuck in the middle sensation where you have to struggle to turn or to get out of the middle of the mattress.

Overall Rating Of The Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid: 9.3 Excellent

Considerations: Priced at $1099 in queen and $1299 in king, mattresses are not rolled and compressed in the event you need to transport or store the mattress short term.

1. Overall Comfort: 9 out of 10

The Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid Mattress is available in three different firmness options, each of the models is going to feel a bit different. The options are Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm. Based on our firmness scale of 10 offering minimal compression and immersion, and 1 being plush, cradling and very body contouring, I would rank them as follows:

  • Plush Soft Version: Immersive, easily compressible, sinks significantly at hips and shoulder, but not excessive. Owners report that turning and edge support is pretty good (note that all three models have a perimeter foam edge for sitting and transfer support that is the same on all three models). Definitely a “panda’s belly” feel for those seeking a floating, body conforming softness.
  • Luxury Firm Version: This models offers significant resistance when you bury your fist into it, and has about half of the immersion when on your side of the plush soft version. If you want firm but still seek some yielding and give that makes it easier to move and change positions, or if you are a light sleeper, or a couple who tends to gather in the middle of the mattress, this option is a great choice.
  • Firm Version: Quite firm, little immersion, though still easy on hips and shoulders because of the pillow top design. If you are a back sleeper, a larger person or couple, or if you have slept on traditional firmer innerspring mattresses before, this is a good option. For couples though, especially if one person prefers a slightly softer option, opt for the Luxury Firm version.

2. Support: 9 out of 10

All three versions of the Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid Mattress are made with identical components except for modifications in the top layer of pocketed coils, either softer or firmer.

Underneath the pillow top in each version of firmness is a layer of CertiPUR-US®  certified high-density memory foam followed by a few hundred individual 14.5-gauge coils (884 in a queen).

I have lower back issues and during my Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid Mattress review, found that after about an hour while on my back, that the reason I was experiencing less pain was that the pocketed coil component near the top was pushing back enough to give me support.

Most owners who have done their own in home review describe this mattress as highly supportive, restful, and ideal for back sleepers if you choose the firmer 2 options.

Even the Plush Soft owners (which I tested and liked the most), however, indicated despite the softer and loftier initial feel up top, the mattress provided lifting and elevating support.

If you are a belly sleeper, though, most owner reviews seem to prefer the two firmer options so that you don’t end up “swaybacked” while immersed in the torso area- the plush option is probably not the best fit unless you weigh less than 130-140 pounds.

Opt for the medium or firmest versions if you are a belly/side sleeper, otherwise simply use my guidelines based on sleep position preference.

I found that the Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid Mattress is highly effective at distributing and pushing weight away from your body and this keeps pressure points from forming underneath your body, especially when on your side. This means that there was a lot of thought put into not just the ingredients of the mattress, but how it was laid out and designed.

3. Solo Sleeper: 8

If you are on the hunt for a really luxurious mattress that you are going to keep a while, and you want to make a mattress investment rather than just a purchase, this mattress should likely be a strong consideration.

For the money, at $1,099 in queen, and $1,299 in king, I found that you experience more discernible comfort and more buoyant support than any luxury innerspring brand you can find online, or even in retail settings. Ever notice how you can’t feel the difference between mattresses in a retail store?

4. Couple Experience: 9 out of 10

Keep in mind that we reviewed a queen size and also sampled many online reviews as well as conducted our own testing for couples. From a comfort perspective, depending upon which level of firmness you choose, couples positively responded highly to snuggling as well as spaced apart sleeping.

Comments like “inviting, with no sense of crowding or getting stuck”, and experiencing a comfortable level of immersion without feeling trapped were common.

Ok, this is one of Dreamcloud’s stock photos, yes-but it illustrates a good side edge view. Up top is where the softer material that will help keep couples sleeping together by reducing bounce and motion.

Cons: My advice is that individuals over 250lbs., or couples with combined weights of 500lbs., might get a better experience overall by choosing one of the two firmer versions.

5. Edge Support: 10 out of 10

I experienced great edge support with this mattress, but I wasn’t surprised at that. Dreamcloud’s design uses a high density foam edge that on all four sides of the mattress which allows you to sit comfortably to put on shoes, transfer in and out safely, and is easy for kids too.

6. Sex And Intimacy: 10 out of 10

Actually, 7 out of 10 is not bed for an intimacy rating, as people who consider this an important option when mattress shopping re pretty picky. Generally, more bouncy surfaces like Natural Latex Mattresses are preferred as are mattresses with better immersive qualities, allowing for better “grip” on bodies, as sliding around on a mattress during intimacy is generally a negative factor.

For cuddling in the middle, and even vigorous intimacy, reviewers tended to praise all three versions of . The Dreamclous. Some reviewers have mentioned that if they prefer a firmer mattress for intimacy, they opt for the Luxury Firm or Firm options. For snugglers, I liked the body cradling feel of the softer version.

7. Bounce, Liveliness, And Motion Transfer: 9 out of 10

The pilowtop section, which has quilted foam along with the cashmere exterior fabric, along with the extra thick 3.5″ of memory foam and supportive flexible foam tight up top- offers pretty good motion dampening.

Many people want a mattress with a lot of bounce and spring action to it, as it is much easier to turn on surfaces that are highly responsive. For excellent motion dampening, though, pillowtop mattress are hard to beat. When you combine a pillowtop mattress with an innerspring support system you create the perfect storm of subtle bounciness without the jiggle factor that keeps light sleepers awake.

For light sleepers, or with couples who have that partner who is constantly on the move, it’s a good overall choice in my opinion.

8. Cost vs. Value Delivered: 9 out of 10

If you’ve read anything online at all about The Dreamcloud Brand, one key consideration is price, and I find the Premier to be underpriced when compared to similar brands by about $300-400. You can’t buy them in retail stores, though the company makes it extremely easy to order a mattress online, have it shipped and set up in your home, and offers an outstanding, 365 day no questions asked trial period.

When you consider the cost, and factor in the concierge level delivery and the complimentary setup service you receive, I find the value of The Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid to be extremely high. Also, with a lifetime warranty that covers workmanship and defects (including depressions, rutting, and upholstery), online reviews by actual owners reflect confidence and trust in the brand.

9. Trial Period, Warranty, Customer Service 10 out of 10

Google Review screen grab, August 2023

The turnaround time of 5-8 days to receive your mattress is acceptable considering each mattress Dreamcloud makes is made to order and not sitting rolled up in a dusty third party warehouse.

The customer service experience on the back end was also something I thought was pretty good. Excellent chat and phone support, and very responsive if you need tracking or delivery support, too.

They keep a staff of “sleep guides” available by phone as well that can help you with questions or preference decisions.

10. Shipping And Delivery Experience 10 out of 10

My sample arrived lickety-split, about a week after ordering. I called several times to get updated tracking just to see how receptive and friendly the customer service was, and played the part of a cranky customer- service was great.

In both cases, one guy and one girl-they were very patient and cheerful. Generally, the Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid ships out 2-3 days after the day you place your order. Once my box arrived, I noticed minimal scuffing on the box, and the compressed mattress, which was wrapped in multiple layers of protective sheeting, easily unfurled and I had it on my platform bed in minutes.

Even more difficult is handling COI’s (certificates of insurance) often required by co-ops, apartment buildings, and condos before a delivery can be made. Saatva will handle that for you provided you send them a copy of the building COI prior to delivery date, a really nice feature that takes the consumer out of the loop.

Also, as a footnote, when you purchase any Dreamcloud mattress, you also receive free pillows, a sheet set, and a mattress protector.

Hybrid mattresses are the most popular selling category right now, and consist of both pocketed coils as well as specialized foam layers.

My Dreamcloud Premier Mattress review is going to take a look at what’s inside from the top down, and I’m even going to compare with Dreamcloud’s original hybrid model, which runs about $200 less, but doesn’t offer the same level of plushness, pressure relief, or pain benefits.

In fact, I found that the Dreamcloud “Classic” Hybrid model is vastly difference in performance, and the Premier model simply outperforms the Classic, especially considering it doesn’t cost a whole lot more to upgrade. It’s a tad softer, though still what I’d call a medium to medium firm feel overall, more responsive (bouncier), and much more comfortable for side and combination sleepers.

With a huge cult-like following of owners who are loyal to the Dreamcloud brand, they are well known by reviewers like myself who have experience with the features and benefits of similar models, which generally cost twice as much. The Dreamcloud lineup has over 11,500 reviews, and is one of the most widely reviewed mattress options sold online, so it has a strong, owner driven commentary that continually makes it a reliable brand.

Detailed Information About What’s Inside The Dreamcloud Premier Mattress

The Dreamcloud Premier Mattress is designed to provide a firmer, more supportive feel. Up top, the company uses a cashmere blended fabric mixed with cotton and quilts the fabric with a thin layer of foam which adds loft, buoyancy, and an inviting initial feel when on the mattress.

It also adds a bit more of a plush feel which I did not notice on their Classic model, having more of a flat sensation. Actually, even with sheets and mattress protector installed, the mattress has an easy melt in sensation to it that feels dramatically different from similar brands.

I compared it with Nectar, Saatva, and even Sealy and Simmons, all of which cost a bit more if you are comparing pillowtop hybrid mattress, delivers the best on value at $1199 in queen.

The Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid Mattress adds a bit more of a plush feel which I did not notice on their Classic model, which has much less responsive and lively feel.

I compared it with Nectar, Saatva, and even Sealy and Simmons, all of which cost a bit more if you are comparing pillowtop hybrid mattress, delivers the best on value at $1199 in queen.

I often see hybrid mattress manufacturers skimp on the quality of the memory foam comfort material that is used. As I do with all of my samples, I cut open the side of the mattress to reveal 2.5 inches of foam layers in addition to the quilted box pillow top piece.

This adds additional comfort and reduces the tendency to feel pressure as you settle into the The Dreamcloud Hybrid Premier Mattress.

Dreamcloud Uses A Loftier “Hotel Mattress Formula” Does It Improve Its Feel?

An edge on look at the pillowtop section of this 14″ hybrid option clearly illustrates that The Dreamcloud Premier Mattress emphasizes initial body contact feel for those who prefer a loftier, more immersive feel.

But, when lying down on it, we didn’t experience the chronic problem found in a lot of pillowtop mattresses we’ve reviewed through the years.

There wasn’t that collapsing and sinking feeling that makes it difficult to turn, or to sit on the edge of the mattress, but rather just enough settling to be comfortable and to fill in void areas, even for couples and larger folks.

The Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid Mattress was designed using the basic template of an innerspring mattress, but Resident Home, the manufacturer of the Dreamcloud mattress lineup, wanted to produce a higher end hybrid that featured upscale components typically found in resort or higher end hotels.

The pillowtop on The Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid Mattress has a pleasing scallop pattern that prevents shifting of contents over time, and with the quilted cashmere section, has some responsiveness when pressed down.

It returns very fast to its original level of poofiness, and has good springy action to it. Unlike a smoothtop outer fabric, which is a thinner, unquilted piece of material that is not quilted or sculpted, you don’t bottom into the underlying layers.

This means that right up top, your weight is evenly distributed across the plane of the mattress.

Keep in mind that there are many hybrid coil and foam mattresses sold online, with a fair number of them falling in the $750-1000 range, but the concern I have with a lot of them is the caliber of the ingredients, specifically the foam layers used.

Many companies import much of the “filler” ingredients used in both foam and innerspring mattresses from China or other countries, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but, quality can be an issue when factories are not using good chemistry to make these materials.

There are plenty of domestic suppliers in the USA that produce their own foam components that generally have much longer lifespans and durability. In addition, you can get easier specs and technical information about additives and chemicals used in these materials when you are working with state side suppliers.

I’d Consider The Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid Mattress A Great Family Mattress Or Couples Mattress Option

The Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid is an ideal couples or family mattress.

For $1099 in queen, and $1199 in king The Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid Mattress delivers more of a cloud like experience than other brands in its class I’ve tested.

It’s very adept at accommodating side sleepers, and belly sleepers, too, because there is more quilt and more foam directly underneath your body-above the pocket coil suspension.

I found that it’s a bit easier to turn on, and to transfer in and out of, than their more basic model, The Dreamcloud Hybrid.

In Depth Review Of Components Used In The Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid Mattress

The pocketed coil unit inside The Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid Mattress is firmer along the perimeter edge of the entire mattress. This feature allows you to sit comfortably on the edge, makes transfer easier, and provides a supportive surface if you are like me- a leg dangler!

A Pocketed Coil System With Extra Edge Support

One of the best features that drove me to recommend the Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid Mattress was the use of a higher quality individually pocketed coil system. Each coil operates independently, allowing for an easy give and take of your body weight, kind of like the suspension in a car.

It does not feel bouncy, however, as the system is a bit more firm than in cheaper, lower quality innerspring mattresses I’ve reviewed.

You’ll get a buoyant and uplifting sensation form this mattress, and it is slightly more firm than it is soft, but I would not describe it as firmer. I think it falls more like 6 out of 10, 10 being very firm, and 1 being you crash right through it.

Above the pocketed coil “suspension” there are 3 layers of polyurethane foam that both lift and elevate, cool, relieve pressure, and balance your body evenly across the surface of the Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid Mattress.

With a total thickness of 4.5 inches, the foam layers also help soothe pain by spreading laterally (sideways) instead of down.

This elimination of pinpoint pressure is something I tested, using heavier medicine balls and pressure to determine how far I could bury into the mattress.

The Dreamfoam Premier Hybrid Mattress was better than most mattresses in the pocketed hybrid coil category likely because of the increased amount of “padding” and cushioning of the cashmere quilted pillow top along with the 4.5 inches of pressure relieving foam.

As part of my 4.7 star rating, I included shipping elements with the Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid Mattress as part of the review, too. The mattress is gently pre-compressed using techniques I am very familiar with, ships quickly via Fedex or freight service.

Tracking services and customer support is outstanding, with average chat or phone response time being a minute or less. I really respect Resident Home, the mother company of the Dreamcloud product line.

A Bed In A Box Option That Consistently Satisfies Owners And Even Mattress Reviewers Like Me

I’m not the only mattress reviewer that consistently ranks the Dreamcloud Hybrid Mattress as one of the most highly rated mattress overall online, as shown here on our Trusted Dealer page.

Other reviewers, though they may not be former mattress designers or manufacturers, provide significant customer feedback from owner reviews that reveal a trust level with this mattress that is hard to beat.

If you are looking for a great mattress that delivers on support and comfort, and is slightly firmer rather than softer, with a plushy top that is inviting and nest like consider this option.

Shipped carefully and artfully rolled and compressed, it easily unfurls after you received. My queen size sample was easily handled by two petite staff members and was well protected in plastic sheeting.

Shipping cost is included in the price and takes about 12-14 days, sometimes sooner to receive from the day you order.

More Details And Bullet Points About The Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid Mattress

As a veteran mattress designer and CEO of several bedding companies, with 25 years of experience in bedding components, it’s pretty rare for me to see a bed that is designed from the ground up in a well thought out, very strategic fashion.

I’m Marc Anderson, CEO and senior editor of The Mattress Buyer Guide. Most of the big name all foam mattresses you see chasing you around are made using fairly inexpensive foam layers that are comfortable, sure, but when you get it home, it’s more likely to give you a sense of “meh” rather than “holy, shit, this thing is amazing!”.

The DreamCloud Premier Hybrid Mattress, hand crafted one at a time by a company I really like, called Resident Brands. For the price, it has no equal in the “bed in a box” category.

I discovered a mattress that a company called Resident, which owns the DreamCloud mattress brand, a few years back. They also own Nectar, Awara, and several other brands, including a furnishings brand. Their team is very particular, their fabrication facilities are state of the art, and their mission to provide great customer service is stellar, something I’m fussy about myself.

a responsible warranty, return policy and trial period

Your DreamCloud Premier Hybrid Mattress is equipped with one of the best industry warranties I’ve ever seen. Full lifetime coverage on defects, a full 10 years up front with 100% replacement value if there are any issues, like indentations or construction issues, the kind of coverage that helps you sleep at night.

Even better, the trial period offered by this company shows confidence in their product. A full 365 days to think about and try out your mattress? That’s right. I used to offer that same trial period for several of my products, but only after years of testing in the marketplace and having my own customers bolster my confidence with outstanding reviews. Hard to beat.

Here are what real customers have to say about the Dreamcloud:

Sage J.- WOW, YOU’VE BUILT THE PERFECT MATTRESS!

“After 5 mattress purchases (and returns), the Dreamcloud is the perfect combination of support and high quality cushioning. I e bought mattresses twice this price and they weren’t nearly as nice. Thank you, Dreamcloud!”

Settimio D.- AWESOME!!

“People, enough “Mattress Hunting” already! I rolled the dice & put my faith in this purchase, which is a No-Brainer with the 1-Year, No Questions Asked Refund guarantee from Dream Cloud. Why did I wait so long to buy a new mattress! The reason is the same as when I bought my last sofa…buyer’s remorse. I liked the sofa, it seemed great, I pic

The bed had all of the features I wanted, and in four weeks it was delivered. And within another four weeks I was kicking myself. Not this time! I absolutely LOVE this mattress! The combination of various foams & coil-springs make this exceptionally comfortable. It doesn’t make me hot. It’s not too firm, and not at all mushy.

It’s in the “Goldie Locks” zone…Just Right. And at its price-point you are getting a super value, because even though you can’t put a price on a high quality night’s sleep, most people have budgetary limitations. I’m So glad that

I didn’t pull the trigger on a “Sleep Number,” because I’ve tried one out, and for me there was no comparison. Plus I saved about $1,500.00! If you hear any complaints about the “De-Gassing” process, brush them aside because it will go away, and that is a tiny price to pay for so much comfort. The only thing I didn’t realize is that my old fitted sheets weren’t gonna work on this 15” slumber cloud. Again, a tiny price to pay! Sleep well shoppers!”

A super comfortable high end luxury bed for the price of your typical big name foam bed, with far more to offer. Your spine, your neck, shoulders, and the rest of your body will thank you.

I talk a lot about sleep hygiene and how a poorly made mattress will keep you from experiencing REM sleep and that deeply restorative rest you need to be your best. This mattress will help!

Our Dreamcloud mattress review was pretty thorough, and we have to hand it to Resident Home, who designed and builds both options. Nicely crafter, good fit and finish and owners rave about their experiences.

More Shipping, Delivery, And Trial Period Details

We ordered our test sample and received the tracking information immediately, and our queen size DreamCloud Premier quickly after placing our order online.

Our pillows, sheet set, and mattress protector arrived a few days afterwards, which gave us a couple of days to remove the mattress from the carton and let it acclimate to my test room.

The Dreamcloud sample had been carefully rolled in heavier than average plastic sheeting (which we recycle by offering to other businesses to utilize) which thoroughly protected it.

To open the mattress, you simply get the mattress in an open area, tear off the leading edge of plastic and roll it out.

The mattress will immediately begin to take on air and makes a curious hissing sound for a few minutes, and returned to it’s original pre-packaging height of 14′ in about 2 hours.

This is typical for bed in a box vacuum packaging and shipping techniques that I’m familiar with with my own mattress manufacturing and shipping experience.

The company offers a 365 day no questions asked trial period during which you can evaluate and try out the mattress for an extended period of time to make sure it’s the right fit for you.

Should you decide to return it, there is no charge to have the mattress removed and you will receive a full refund.

Bottom Line With The DreamCloud Premier Hybrid Mattress

Bottom line, The DreamCloud Premier Hybrid Mattress is a smart investment in a luxury mattress, but offered at a reasonable price with solid inventiveness when it comes to design and construction. By using integrated and alternating layers of memory foam and latex, and then utilizing individually pocketed coils, you’re giving your body the support and cradling it needs, while eliminating downward pressure and preventing heat buildup.

Also whenever pocketed coils and latex are used, and I know because I’ve used them in my own designs, you increase the lifespan of a mattress, and prevent sagging, indentations, and gulleys.

It’s also an excellent choice for couples, seniors, a family bed, and the ultimate guest bed. Easy transfer in and out of the mattress, edge support that allows you to put on shoes, the little things that make a mattress great, in my opinion.

I believe that owning a Dreamcloud Premier Mattress is a good investment in yourself. I rarely say this about a mattress since I’m pretty critical overall-but it’s a great deal a hybrid foam and pocket coil mattress options.
