Casper Mattress Reviews 2021 : The Popular Brand Has A Cult Following, But Do They Measure Up Against Other Options?

Casper was one of the first bed in a box mattress companies that helped revolutionized the way mattress shopping and purchasing was done. Starting with one mattress, the eponymous “bed in a box” retailer has reinvented itself multiple times, and now has four unique mattress options that offer a unique sleeping experience, from their Original model to their Wave option.

The company tends to stay ahead of the curve technologically, and owners of their products, are often known to simply buy the newest model Casper has to offer as they roll out. Casper owners are fanatical, that’s for sure, so let’s take a look at why their mattresses are designed to thrill- and give you a good night’s sleep.

I’ve designed and manufactured dozens of my own bed in a box mattresses, and though Casper has followed a pretty standard industry blueprint, by stepping up the quality of their components and keeping their mattress designs simple and less likely to fail, they have established themselves as reliable and consistent, something you don’t see with every brand.

the Casper Original Mattress

The Casper Original Mattress model was pretty innovative when it came on the market just a few years ago. The design was neat and compact, didn’t have too many ingredients, sticking with a breathable outer covering, and three unique foam layers that targeted zoned support at areas of the body that needed support.

“With any mattress design, your’e fighting gravity. The Casper Original Mattress has mastered the art of subtle levitation, and millions of owners agree.”

Casper’s team of designers had owned a few companies before Casper was launched, and had already become hardcore engineers and designers of all things foamy.

They also possess a Steve Jobs style about them, making sure the mattress had visual appeal, and was not over built with layers and gimmicks and filler material which added no value or ergonomic elements.

That might be why I recommend this mattress, thought it’s a tad more expensive- but it delivers on the price.

I still highly recommend the Casper Original Mattress and consider it one of my overall favorite foam mattresses. At just $1095 in queen, it’s a bit pricier than many other models in its class, but the zoned support layer which provides targeted pressure relief is easy on the hips and shoulders.

The eponymous Casper Original Mattress incorporates a breathable outer stretchable cover, a top most layer of what they call AirFoam, designed to rapidly ventilate warm air, a three zoned layer of memory foam that relieves pressure and gently hugs your body, and a firmer high density polyurethane layer at the bottom that keeps you from feeling trapped.

The Casper Original Mattress at $1,095 in queen, is backed with a 100 night trail, a 10 year warranty, and ships for free. TIME Magazine called it one of the top 100 inventions of all time.

The architecture of The Casper Original Mattress is minimalistic, which means you don’t get a dampened or muted effect from the essential components that deliver the benefits up top.

If you need a little extra support, let’s say you and your partner weight over 175lb each, I’d recommend upgrading to the Casper Original Hybrid, which sells for $1,295.

You’ll get an individual pocketed coil suspension rather than the high density foam support layer underneath, giving you even more localized lift and buoyancy.

The Casper Original Hybrid Mattress option, at just $1,295 in queen size, offers superior support, with a slightly firmer than average “hugged” and nestled feel, without bottoming into an abyss, a common problem in many all foam mattresses I’ve reviewed.

There’s no digging your way out of bed, and you won’t slide off of the edge of The Casper Original Mattress when getting in and out, or putting your shoes on.

Another feature I really think is great: Owners like the fact that you can filter their mattress reviews on the Casper site by categories such as comfort, body pain, couples, and other specific areas, so you’ll get actual owner feedback about the things that actually relate to your sleep habits.

Overall, I think the Casper brand has done a really good job of staying on top. They built a brand, stayed focus on their mission, and each rollout is better than the model before.

The Casper Original Mattress model, which was designed and engineered with blood and guts, and had to be pitched in front of investors that would make The Shark Tank team cry, is a true industry standard of excellence. Try one out for 100 nights, risk free.
