The Prescription Free Migraine Treatment That Shuts Down The Pain

Looking for an alternative migraine headache treatment? Migraines shutter lives from daily activities, create despair and suffering, along with anxiety and stress. It steals time and creeps into your life like a ghost.

But what if I told you there is a simple solution to these terrible headaches that can help- and that it doesn’t involve drugs and can give almost immediate relief?

More and more, migraine headache treatments are being sought after by many patients looking for prevention and relief.

Finding a migraine headache treatment without chemicals or invasive techniques is surprisingly complex, considering one of the sources is right underneath the skin on your forehead.

Most migraine headaches involve the trigeminal nerve, the largest and most complex cranial nerve. The top branch of the trigeminal nerve can be accessed through the skin on the forehead.

Up until recently, migraines were traditionally treated with drugs, including opioids, anti-nausea drugs, and specialty medications that can be expensive and loaded with side effects.

Because we are sleep experts, primarily reviewing and testing mattresses, we get tons of emails and messages from people who suffer with migraines.

A lot of mattress customers ask us, “Are there any drug free migraine treatments you can recommend?”.

We’re going to tell you about a device that can reduce migraine intensity but up to 70%, usually within 30 minutes, and isn’t a drug or other medical therapy.

CEFALY® Is Recommended By Physicians

Physicians, like Stephanie Vertrees M.D., a board certified headache specialist in Austin, TX, use the CEFALY® device in their practices for patients who either try to avoid drugs, or want to eliminate as many as possible. The CEFALY® device is often used for acute migraine episodes as well.

CEFALY® is easy to use. The system arrives with the device and three electrodes and storage bag, an adapter pad and charging cable.

You control your CEFALY® treatment intensity. It should never be painful and treating your migraine at a lower intensity is effective and perfectly normal.

For some, CEFALY® is immediately effective. For others, it may take weeks for your treatment sessions to produce the results you’re seeking.

The average review we found online for the CEFALY® device was 5.0 out of 5 stars.

How It Works And Why It Is So Effective

We went looking through reviews both on Google as well on the CEFALY® site, and were pretty surprised. Of course, it’s hard to read about the suffering and the amount of time people invest in finding robust treatments.

We found one review in particular though, that kind of represented how a lot of users responded after trying their CEFALY® out, even after just few times.

Barbara Vogel wrote: “I have had migraines for 49 years. After a TBI in 2019 they became horrific. Within one week my headaches were almost gone. I woke up today deathly sick with a migraine.

One treatment and I am up and cleaning. I was VERY skeptical. Over the years I’ve tried EVERYTHING! I’m allergic to all current migraine meds.

I’m allergic to Aleve and Ibuprofen. This machine saved my life, LITERALLY!”

She gave the product five stars, and if you are like her, she was at the end before she tried the device, and gave her a new lease on life.

Backed With Hard Science And The FDA

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared the CEFALY® medical device for the treatment of migraines, with or without aura, in patients ≥18 years of age.

CEFALY® is described as an “external trigeminal nerve stimulator (e-TNS)” approved for use under prescription. It is placed on the forehead, sending micro-pulses through an electrode to the upper branch of the trigeminal nerve.

The device, initially FDA-approved for the prevention of migraine attacks, is now cleared for use during a migraine attack with or without aura.

Dr. Pierre Rigaux, CEO of Cefaly Technology, stated at the time that, “We are excited that our medical technology is unique and can treat a migraine as well as prevent a migraine”.

The approval was based on results from a study that was conducted called ACME (Acute Treatment of Migraine with External trigeminal nerve stimulation), a randomized, placebo controlled trial.

The results of the study demonstrated that on average, CEFALY® is described as an “external trigeminal nerve stimulator (e-TNS)” approved for use under prescription.

It is placed on the forehead, sending micro-pulses through an electrode to the upper branch of the trigeminal nerve.

Treatment reduced migraine pain by 65% and 32% of patients were pain free within 1 hour. These results were impressive enough to get immediate FDA clearance.

How The CEFALY Device Actually Eliminates Migraine Pain

Much like a TENS machine, which uses removable electrodes attached to specific areas of the body, especially the back, shoulders, and certain areas of the neck, the CEFALY® device focuses on a very small area of the forehead.

When properly placed, it targets the trigeminal nerve just underneath the skin on the forehead. After you use the device several times, you’ll get pretty accurate in locating your own precise “sweet spot” as one reviewer called it.

Through the electrodes which attach to the device magnetically after you adhere them to your skin, Cefaly generates precise micro-impulses in order to stimulate the nerve endings of the trigeminal nerve.

Neurostimulation of the trigeminal nerve with CEFALY® aims to produce a sedative or calming effect. Regular repetition of this effect is thought to reduce the number of attacks of migraine.

Looking For A Mattress That Can Help With Migraines?

We offer a selection of mattresses that we have carefully evaluated and tested that may offer further relief of migraine headaches.

Typically the mattresses we recommend are designed to properly support the neck and back to promote healthy spine alignment, which allows neck muscles to relax, reducing the likelihood of migraine onset.
