Bear Mattress Reviews: Three Options That Promote Wellness and Deep Sleep, Delivering Restorative Rest
My first Bear Mattress reviews were early on when the company offered only one mattress. They offer three mattress options that are more affordable than most online brands, using more tech materials, pressure relief, and a bit better foam and coil components. I was a mattress manufacturer myself for 25 years before I started reviewing and testing online brands.
Bear Mattress is the only mattress company we’ve reviewed that uses a body contact material on the outer covering which converts body heat to far infrared heat, which increases blood flow, in turn removing toxins from your bloodstream.
Far infrared heat reduces and relieves muscle spasms, making Bear Mattress options sought after by performance athletes and those needing improved circulation for many medical conditions.
This infrared energy is reflected back at the body, which is intended to trigger oxygenation and vasodilation in the body. The fiber reflects this energy in the form of FIR back towards the body, where the skin and muscle tissue can absorb it.
All three models we discuss below include the fabric as an outer encasement material.
If you are looking for a memory foam mattress option and like the pressure relieving qualities they offer, The Bear mattress lineup has three options that focus on pain relief, effective weight distribution, and are ideal for couples as well as those with shoulder, neck, and back pain. I’ve reviewed and tested all three Bear Mattress products, and encourage readers to check them out. Backed up with a ten year factory warranty, and a no questions asked 100 night trial in the event you don’t love your mattress, your purchase also includes a set of their own Bear pillows (which are great, not lumpy or too soft) as well as a nice set of sheets.
The sheets alone are probably worth $150-200. Bear’s sheets are made from a blend of cotton and Celliant-infused polyester. They are a 400 thread count and a sateen weave which is intended to offer a feel that’s soft, durable, and super smooth.
1. The Bear Original 10″ Mattress Review: $650 In Queen
Overall, I rated the Bear Original 10″ Mattress as 4.6 out of 5 stars, which is a fairly high rating for a mattress priced under $800. I found it to be supportive enough, but liked the way it relieved pressure in my hip area and shoulder, damaged after decades of tennis and running. Plus, the pillows and sheet set they include are super nice, not a promotional, thinner type sheet or lumpy pillows.
In addition, The Bear Original Mattress is GREENGUARD Gold Certified by UL for low emissions, including VOC’s, formaldehyde and phthalates. Formaldehyde is typically used in solvent based adhesives by many manufacturers. Bear uses a water based adhesive, according to an inside source where Bear does product assembly.
But what makes the Bear Original 10″ Mattress any different than other memory foam or gel foam mattresses that are built the same way? Well, the cost, at $649, for one thing. Considering the use of upgraded, higher density gel foam and the exterior covering, which is something called “hand quilted Celliant
2. The Bear Elite Pro Hybrid 14″ Mattress: Generous Memory Foam Layers Add Up To Better Pressure Relief
The Bear Elite Pro Hybrid 14″ Mattress is essentially what I call a performance mattress, because it has more than 5″ of components strictly dedicated to comfort and not acting as support layers. The copper infused memory foam laminated to the thicker layer of 2″ memory foam deliver on better pressure relief at hips and shoulders.
Also, the company uses a transitional layer that is slightly more supportive than typical, meaning you won’t bottom into it, even if you are with a partner and you both end up in the middle of the mattress most of the night.
Because it relies on a pocket coil suspension, I experienced excellent spine support, didn’t wake up with lower back pain, and felt rested after a good 8 hours or so sleeping on my sample. It’s technically more of a hybrid mattress (coils and foam) but because I really like the thickness and performance of their foam layers up to, I had to include it.
Remember, too, I’ve designed and manufactured dozens of my own memory foam mattresses though the years, and I know the recipes and formulations for almost all of this stuff. The price includes a sheet set along with a pair of their gel foam pillows, it’s a sweet price at $1373 for the complete package in queen, including 100 night trial and 10 year top to bottom warranty. I would rate their phone crew and customer service a solid 10/10, too! King size runs $1633.
3. The Bear Star Hybrid 13″ Mattress
Beneath that layer, another layer of transition foam helps to dampen motion and distribute the pressure relieving and supportive qualities of the Quantum Edge coil system all the way to the outer edge of the mattress to provide optimal uplift and buoyancy without a sensation of being buried inside the mattress.
Pocketed Coils That Lift, Cradle, And Make Turning And Getting In And Out Of Bed Easier
The Quantum Edge Coil System is made by a company in the United States called Leggett & Platt, and is a proven winner for mattresses employing best in class individual pocketed coil designs. They used recycled steel in their construction, too, which we really like.
The Bear Hybrid mattress is Greenguard Gold Certified by UL for producing low emissions from dangerous materials often found in bedding products. Its scientifically proven to meet some of the world’s most rigorous, third-party emissions standards for chemical exposure and pollutants, such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), formaldehyde and phthalates.
The Bear Hybrid mattress is backed up with solid reviews, too, which was instrumental in considering them as one of most highly recommended hybrid mattresses (mattresses containing a combination of foam, coil systems, and other components).
Buying A Bear Star Hybrid 13″ Mattress is not an overwhelming investment that you will second guess either. At just $1126 for a queen model (using our special factory direct link you’ll also get two free pillows, too), you get a 100 night risk free, no questions asked trial, free shipping and free returns, Bear’s solid 20 year factory warranty, and a solid 4.6 star rating out of 898 confirmed third party reviews.
For the money and features/benefits included, The Bear Star Hybrid Mattress is a great choice for couples, heavier folks, and anyone needing a mattress with great edge support. Along the outer edges of the mattress, the coils are intentionally made tighter and firmer, to support body weight and making transfer in and out of bed easier.
For athletes, taking shoes on and off, and even changing, is easier, and it’s worth the investment. At $1126 for a queen, you will also get a free sheet set and a free set of pillows, too.
